John Cena makes major confession on WWE RAW

Inside: WWE sets unfortunate new record this week on RAW

RAW RUNDOWN

The Franchise Player appeared in Brussels for the March 17 episode of the Monday night show to explain his heel turn against Cody Rhodes and his alliance with The Rock. He justified his actions by claiming that for the past 25 years, fans had not supported him, but rather exploited him.

Expressing his anger towards the WWE Universe, John Cena asserted that their relationship was dysfunctional and toxic. The 16-time world champion went further, declaring that he was ending things with the fans, before being confronted by The American Nightmare.

During the latest episode of RAW from Belgium, Adam Pearce officiated a contract signing between Women's World Champion IYO SKY and Bianca Belair for their title match at WrestleMania 41. As soon as the two women put pen to paper, Rhea Ripley stormed into the ring and got into Belair's face.

IYO tried to interfere between the two but The EST of WWE shoved her in the face. The distraction allowed Mami to hit Belair with a headbutt, followed by a powerbomb to SKY on the top of the table. The former Judgment Day member then picked up the contract and signed her name on it, thus unofficially inserting herself into the Women's World Title picture at WrestleMania 41. Later in the show, Pearce asked Rhea to hand over the contract backstage, but she demanded to be put into the title match.

John Cena opened RAW this week with a scathing promo that brought real-life heat to WWE and Netflix, then Cody Rhodes interrupted for a back-and-forth. Penta declared interest in the Intercontinental Championship after beating Ludwig Kaiser in a No Holds Barred match. Rhea Ripley crashed the WrestleMania 41 contract signing for IYO SKY vs. Bianca Belair.

Jey Uso brawled with Gunther after squashing Austin Theory. The loaded episode also featured names like Seth Rollins and The LWO, and closed with Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker retaining over Finn Balor, then mixing it up with Penta and The Judgment Day.RAW went just 2 hours and 22 minutes this week. This is the shortest duration RAW has been on the three-hour format, and the shortest red brand episode of the Netflix Era. While some fans enjoyed the brief switch to a two-hour format last year, it seems most of the feedback to this week's runtime is fairly negative.

FROM THE RUMOR MILL

Cody Rhodes and John Cena kicked off this week's episode of WWE RAW with an intense promo, and there has been a major update about the reaction it received backstage. Cena won the Men's Elimination Chamber Match earlier this month to earn an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 next month.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the backstage reaction to the promo between Cody Rhodes and John Cena was very positive. A source told Fightful that it was the hottest TV environment they had ever experienced, and it was a good sign for future tapings in Belgium.
